You are not just trapping mice!

Nobody wants mice in their house, but putting glue traps outside can also catch songbirds! We have already had two in the clinic this year – a bluebird and a wren. Both were saved, but it is a painstaking and painful process for us to remove them feather by feather from the glue.

Please consider using a different kind of trap, including a catch and release variety. If you have found a bird on a glue trap, please follow these guideline and bring them to us as soon as possible!

  • Cover remaining exposed glue with paper towels to prevent further sticking

  • Place trap and bird into enclosed cardboard box

  • Transport asap to Phoenix Wildlife Center or other nearby rehabilitator

This lucky little bluebird is recovering from his "sticky" situation pictured above.
